Aghunato, August 7 (MExN): The Aghunato Town Students’ Union on Sunday drew the state government’s attention to issues pertaining to the welfare of the citizens of Aghunato including non-performing treasury office and lack of teachers.

In a press release, the Union stated that the treasury office at Aghunato town which was established in 2017, “has been seen functioning two or three days in a month” creating problems for the general public. The union also stated that the employees from ten different departments at Aghunato and the pensioners numbering up to 265 have been facing problems regarding withdrawal of salaries or pensions, since the establishment of the office till date.

As such, the union requested the government to look into the matter urgently as many complaints have been put up by the public.

In addition, the Union also stated that the Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Aghunato has not been able to run smoothly due to shortage of teachers.

Stating that the matter has been brought to the government’s notice ‘time and again,’ the release stated that five teachers from the school had retired between 2016 t 2021; two teachers had been transferred with post in 2021; and two teachers were transferred in 2022.

In this connection, the Union requested the government and the department to look in to the matter and take necessary action in the interest of the public and the student community.
