DIMAPUR, JANUARY 20 (MExN): Six civil society organizations from Peren today demanded the immediate service termination of the two IRB jawans who were involved in a firing incident at a market place in Peren on January 16.
A press release from the Ward Chairman Union Peren Town, Peren Town Youth Organisation, Zeliangrong Mipui Organisation, Peren Town Women Welfare Organisation and the Peren Town Gaonbura Union appreciated the Police Department and the State Government for the prompt action taken against the erring personnel by suspending them.
It however reiterated the demand that the personnel be terminated from service as “the gravity of their actions is tantamount to attempt to murder.”
“This is not about Peren Town or Peren District but every right thinking people of Nagaland should condemn such dangerous behaviors and actions done by these two IRB personnel who are supposed to safeguard and protect the lives of the public. These two erring IRB personnel are a danger to civilized society and to the public and exemplary action should be taken on them by terminating their services,” the organizations stated.
They meanwhile informed that the 72 hours deadline given by the organisations has expired “but the department and the government have not met or demand which is to terminate the services of the two IRB personnel.” Demanding that the demand be fulfilled, the organizations stated that they would be compelled to initiate agitation.
