JCPI convenes meeting on Dec 18 to discuss CAB

Dimapur, December 9 (MExN): The JCPI has called for a meeting of all tribal apex bodies’ presidents and secretaries, leaders of CSOs and NGOs to discuss the CAB on December 18 from 11 am at the Conference Hall of Tourist Lodge, Dimapur.


This meeting has been called against the backdrop of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019, which was  passed in the Lok Sabha, the Joint Committee on Prevention of Illegal Immigrants (JCPI) stated in a press release.


It said that the JCPI and other leaders are duty-bound and have the responsibility to rise to the "occasion with challenges that we face during the time of our leadership; thus all and all responsible leaders are requested to attend on priority, despite festival season and other pre-engagements." 


The issues pertaining to the CAB need to be tackled with consultation and outmost wisdom for a securing future of the citizens of Nagaland, added the release issued by JCPI Convenor, K Ghokheto Chopi and Secretary, Tia Longchar.
The meeting will also deliberate on the issue of RIIN and implementation of ILP at the earliest in Dimapur.
