JCPI inducts heads of tribe hohos/apex bodies as executive members

DIMAPUR, JUNE 8 (MExN): The Joint Committee on Prevention of Illegal Immigrants (JCPI) convened a meeting on June 7 with officials/representatives of 12 tribe hohos/apex bodies namely Angami, Ao, Chakhesang, Garo, Kachari, Kuki, Lotha, Pochury, Rengma, Sangtam, Sumi and Zeliang along with NTC, CNTC, UNTABA, DDGBA, DUCCF, CAKYO, ASTD, WCH, RPOD and DDVCCA.

At the meeting, the houses unanimously resolved to induct the presidents and general secretaries of all the apex tribe hohos/bodies from Nagaland into the JCPI as executive members. It also resolved that the issue of Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016 should continue to be spearheaded by the JCPI.

The house while appreciating the support of DDVCCA (Dimapur District Village Council Chairman Association) has requested that it send two representatives to the JCPI to further strengthen the body.

The house also decided to bring out a ‘White Paper’ on CAB in order to educate the grassroots on the burning issue. The house meanwhile reaffirmed the resolutions adopted on May 18, 2019.
