DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 11 (MExN): Stating that there were many good and bad things taking place in the society, additional secretary to the government of Nagaland, Kikheto Y. Sema IAS called for a united effort of the Church, Government, NGOs etc to fight the ills that was penetrating deep into today’s society.
83rd SBAK annual session heldKikheto was exhorting a congregation of the 83rd general annual session of the Sumi Baptist Akukuhou Kuqhakulu (SBAK) at Sukomi village on Saturday evening. Thousands of people from more than 100 villages had congregated at Sukomi village for the 3-day programme from December 9-11. Kikheto said God had institutionalized the Church, government and the family and that all such organizations should join hands in the fight against evil forces.
Pointing out the scenario in Nagaland where every needs of the people from clothing to building materials, food and even rice was being imported, Kikheto emphasized on labour and to strive towards becoming self-reliant. Speaking about dignity of labour, he also quoted a verse from the Bible, 2 Thessalonians 3:10 which read, “If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat.” He exhorted the gathering to awaken to the reality of the degrading flora and fauna in their areas and put up a united effort to preserve the ecology. He encouraged formation of clubs in villages and areas for preserving the flora and fauna. Kikheto, however, added that to bring about a change in the society one should first change from within their family itself. He opined that the Church should also go beyond the teachings of salvation and to help in sensitizing the people to preserve the ecological system.
Later, Rev Dr. Khehovi Shohe delivered the sermon on the topic, “Source of life – in Christ.” The evening programme saw special numbers being presented from Litta Old Baptist Church and NTC Choir.
