Thought this esteem local daily, I would like to appraise key bureaucrats and personnel’s in education department, public and the daily readers of this paper regarding promotion, especially of the graduate teachers in Government Schools.
In every profession and in every government department, everybody have a definite hope and destination which compel him/her to do assigned works to the best of his ability and capability to satisfy his/her hierarchical superior and the general public. Until and unless stimulus reinforcement and incentive involve in academic work, no further improvement and innovation will take place. Because of avenue of promotion, better facilities, recognition, reputation and above all blessing, we discharge our duties sincerely and wholeheartedly. For a simple instance, you are a government servant. If somebody who is very junior to you and have lesser practical experience overtake or supersede you on promotion, can you accept it?
Can you remain a silent spectator? I don’t think so. Certainly you may complain against the concerned department. Promotion must be based and served on first-come-first basis, which would attract attention and effort of workers to their work.
We don’t want quantity education but we want quality education, which is productive and constructive. We very often hear from outsiders “Education department is the dirtiest department.” While knowing and hearing this quotation I feel disgusted as I am also a bonafide member in education department. Steps must be taken to nip in the bud of all unwanted and unclear practices otherwise it will be very difficult to make rectifications if education department reaches a deteriorating stage in the near future especially in promotion case. Because it is very difficult to emulate good deeds and very easy to copy bad example. Political promotion and departmental injustifiable promotion to higher status will bruise the sentiments of other teachers who are most senior and active in their service of humanity and such mal-promotions will not be proper conducive for the improvement of our day to day academic career and department functional work.
It is worthwhile to mention that politics will keep on changing. Politics may come and go but department service rules, criteria and norms should remain the same for ever. In order to keep and raise the standard and status of the education department, we have to adhere and stick to the rules and regulations framed by the government. It is our human nature that the more we get motivation and reinforcement the more we tend to go to that very profession and the more we also want to improve it.
According to National Council of Teacher Education, ‘BEd is the first and foremost professional qualification in the teaching and educational administration.’ It is a professional dexterity course in which and by which a teacher gets professional competency and independent work. Moreover, BEd is a pre-requisite certification for a teacher to get good promotional chance. It is amazingly observed that some non Bed graduate teachers have been promoted to the next higher post in education department. If BEd professional skills degree is not taking into account while arranging promotional line, than existing of Nagaland College of Teachers Education need not exist anymore.
