K Badze, Meriema quarantine centres ready for accommodation

Meriema, May 10 (MExN): As part of its concerted efforts to combat COVID-19, the state government under the initiative of the Empowered Group (EG), has set up quarantine centres at  BSUP buildings Meriema and K Badze, Kohima Village for accommodation of people coming from outside the state, a DIPR report stated on May 10


545 and 254 beds each with toilet and bathroom attached have been kept ready at K Badze and Meriema for quarantine purposes. The Empowered Group has provided logistics and basic amenities to the occupants and handed the centres over to Medical department for operation. As of now, 22 persons coming from outside the state have been observing quarantine period at Meriema Quarantine Centre, the report added.


These buildings were earlier unusable without repair and renovation and its surroundings were piled up with debris and remnants accumulated over the years. However, a team of personnel from Housing, Medical, Municipal Affairs, PHE and Power renovated the buildings and removed all the waste materials. Officials from the Control room lauded the commendable work done and thanked the departments for coming forward at this critical situation, the report added. 


In addition, 10 beds have also been set up at ATI, Kohima. It is also reported that the Empowered Group has been in touch with Govt guest houses and private hotels for more accommodation in the event of shortage. 


The Empowered Group is headed by Additional Chief Secretary & FC, Sentiyanger Imchen with subordinate officers from different departments. The Group has been assigned to look after the welfare and well being of our people stranded outside the state.
