KBBB concerned by reported ‘satanic worship’ in Nagaland

Mon, September 11 (MExN): The Konyak Baptist Bumeinok Bangjum (KBBB) or the Konyak Baptist Church Association has expressed alarm over reports of “satanic worship” in Nagaland, saying some youths have allegedly been gathering at a cemetery at night for rituals.

In a press release, the association said such activities have surfaced “occasionally in the past years as well” and, if left unchecked, “may have a potential impact on the spiritual lives of our youths.”

Citing Biblical passages, it described the practice as “spiritual warfare” and “an alien culture … finding niche in the hearts and minds of young people” in what is considered a Christian state.

This could lead to “negative energy” manifested in fears, doubts, substance abuse, “unnatural sex” and suicidal thoughts, cautioned the release was issued by KBBB Executive Secretary Rev L Metjen.

Accordingly, the association urged churches under its fold “to take a more proactive role” in addressing the issue and questioned whether government, parents, teachers and spiritual mentors had failed youths.

It called for “collective responsibility” and a return to “Christian family values” such as prayer, Bible study and moral instruction at home as the antidote to such practices.

The KBBB also asked churches to “be guard on ourselves spiritually and those members entrusted to our care,” referring to the Biblical admonition about wrestling “against the rulers … the cosmic powers over this present darkness.”
