KEH Wokha rallies for violence against women

Wokha, December 5 (DIPR): The Kyong Eloe Hoho (KEH) organized a rally on International Fortnight Observation for Elimination of Violence against Women at Traffic Point Wokha town on December 5, with Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, Rovilatuo Mor (NCS) as the guest speaker.
While speaking at the function the chief guest said that the UN in 1999 declared November 25 as International Day for Elimination of Violence against women as part of universal Human Rights to eliminate violence against women. He said women remains to be the most delicate, venerable victims of violence in various forms in the society. Gender suppression, discrimination, over-exploitation of female biological differences with that of male biological dominance had led to various forms of violence, physical, psychological abuses, etc through out the world as reflected in various Medias. He also added, the society has to accept that women always represents the better halves of men and dominant contributor for a stable, confident, healthier home and family.
Therefore, the society should realize and extend greater love, support and respect the dignity of women to ensure prosperous society.  Opining that suppressing women’s means suppressing the society, he urged the men folks to respect and protect women’s rights. He also appealed to the women folk to understand their activities while asserting and fighting for their rights.
The function was chaired by President Kyong Eloe Hoho Thungjano Tsanglao while vote of thanks was proposed by Joint Secretary KEH Achumlo Erui.
