Kiphire to be ‘tobacco free zone’ by 2020

Kiphire, December 6 (MExN): The District Coordination Committee Kiphire under National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) was constituted with the following members. Deputy Commissioner Kiphire as Chairman, Chief Medical Officer as Vice Chairman, District Nodal Officer Nagaland Tobacco Control Programme as Member Secretary, Superintendent Of police (SP) Kiphire, District Education Officer, Superintendent of Taxes, District Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Excise, and Zisaji Presidency College Principal as Member respectively.


The members of the NTCP first sitting was held on December 6 at DC Office Chamber Kiphire and discussed banning of Tobacco and to implement the order strictly prohibition of sale of Tobacco products near the Educational institutions. 


The committee objective in discussion was prohibition being to protect school children from developing Tobacco habits. The committee also adopted warning signages to install in every school and colleges and Offices with the minimum size of 60 cm by 30 cm. That is 3x2 feet by early next year 2020. Deputy Commissioner Kiphire Sarita Yadav and Superintendent of Police (SP) Amit Nigam apprised the members to cooperate in the implementing the act in order to make Kiphire district Tobacco free zone.
