Kiphire forms district anti-ragging panel to strengthen campus oversight
KIPHIRE, JUNE 30 (MExN): The Kiphire district administration has constituted a 17-member District Level Anti-Ragging Monitoring Committee to strengthen oversight and enforcement of anti-ragging measures in higher educational institutions across the district.
As per the State DIPR, a notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner, Kiphire stated that committee has been constituted with immediate effect in line with the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Nagaland Government.
The Deputy Commissioner will serve as the Chairman, while the District Education Officer will function as the Member Secretary.
Superintendent of Police; Chief Judicial Magistrate; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kiphire/Pungro/Seyochung; Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil), Kiphire; Extra Assistant Commissioners, Amahator, Longmatra, Sitimi, Khongsa, Kiusam; Chief Medical Officer, Kiphire; Principal, Zisaji Presidency College; District Welfare Officer / District Social Welfare Officer; District Child Protection Officer (DCPO); Senior S.D.E.O; District Public Relations Officer; Centre Administrator, SAKHI OSC;District Mission Coordinator, Mission Shakti /DHEW; Official representative from Higher & Technical Education, if any; and one representative each from Educational Institutions/Schools (Private/Government) to be nominated by the Chairman.
The committee has been tasked with monitoring and reviewing the implementation of anti-ragging measures in all higher educational institutions in the district. It will also ensure that every institution constitutes internal Anti-Ragging Committees, Squads and monitoring mechanisms as mandated under the relevant rules and guidelines.
Among its responsibilities, the committee will review institutional preparedness in areas such as awareness, complaint redressal, counselling, monitoring and disciplinary protocols. It will also facilitate coordination among the district administration, police, educational institutions and other agencies for the prevention, reporting and handling of ragging incidents.
The panel will oversee awareness and sensitisation programmes to ensure that students, parents, hostel authorities, faculty members and non-teaching staff are informed about anti-ragging regulations and the consequences of violations.
It will further review action taken by institutional anti-ragging committees, obtain periodic reports from heads of higher educational institutions and submit compliance reports to the Government through the appropriate channel as required.
The Member Secretary will coordinate committee meetings and compile reports for further action by the Chairman, the report added.
