KMC Ward Adoption Committee activities kick start in Bayavü

Bayavü (Ward 2) under Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) has been adopted by District Planning & Development Board (DPDB), Kohima.

A Ward Adoption Committee (WAC) consists of 10 departments with Chonpenthung Ezung, Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Kohima Sadar and MLA Khriehu Liezietsu as convenor and advisor respectively. The activities of the WAC kicked off today by conducting mass social work, tree plantation and workshop on “Single Use Plastics.”

It was formally kicked start by Er Vizotuo, EE PWD South Division. Speaking on the occasion, Er Vizotuo appealed the residents of Bayavü to co-operate with the WAC through the Panchayat, adding that the WAC would do its best within its limited resources for the welfare of the colony.

Mass social work was joined by residents of the colony. KMC, PWD NH Kohima Division and PWD (R&B) South Division also assisted the social work.

The programme also witnessed plantation of ornamental tree and fruit trees. The saplings have been provided by agriculture department and forest department.

The programme was followed by a workshop on “Single Use Plastics” with Pelenuo, team leader Zub Zub as the resource person. Zub Zub is an NGO working towards “Litter free Kohima.”

T Lanusenla Longkumer, Administrator KMC delivered keynote address.

Bayavü Area Panchayat, General Secretary, Diethonguzo Miachieo informed that 417 participants, comprising 200 students and 164 shop owners/shopkeepers and the residents and officials joined the workshop. The refreshment for the participants was provided by MLA Khriehu Liezietsu.
