MGM Higher Secondary School holds 34th annual day programme

Director of National Institute of Technology, Chümoukedima, Dr S Venugopal told the student community to build their character through education adding, “knowledge is power but education is character.”
Speaking as the special guest during the 34th annual day programme of MGM Higher Secondary School, Dimapur on November 1, Dr Venugopal said that education gives opportunity to build one’s character and acquire relationships. He also advised them to build friendships even as they pursue education.
“As a student, you also need to cultivate interest in more subjects outside the classroom,” he said and added that the times demand for students to equip themselves with multi-disciplinary skills. He said specialization in a particular subject was not sufficient these days to compete with others in this world of advancement. Dr Venugopal also emphasized on the need for analytical thinking and to make use of the countless data available in different subjects to enrich their knowledge.
He acknowledged the Naga society for preserving their old practices and at the same time being receptive to the changes and advancement around the world.
During the programme, the school Principal, Rev Fr Dr P.S Varghese presented the annual report in which he mentioned that the institute has an enrolment of 1290 students from nursery till Class 12.
Students of the school presented songs and demonstrated Taekwondo during the programme.
