KOHIMA, MAY 28 (MExN): The Kohima district CHILDLINE has intervened in 500 plus cases till March 2019 informed Neingutuonuo Kulnu, District Coordinator of CHILDLINE during a meeting of the Kohima District Childline Advisory Board today.
The District Coordinator while highlighting on the CHILDLINE case intervention from April 2015 - March 2019, said that a total of 500 plus CHILDLINE case interventions were recorded till March 2019 in various category cases like medical, shelter, restoration, protection from abuse, children in conflict with law, sponsorship, lost children, parents asking help and emotional support and guidance.
Kulnu stated that CHILDLINE is an outreach service for children in need of care and protection and that any child or concerned adult can dial 1098 to avail the emergency assistance. "The uniqueness of CHILDLINE is that it is an NGO Corporate partnership, which is the largest NGO network and largest child help line in India and is a link between Government of India and civil societies,” she added.
It covers street children, child addicts, abused and mentally ill children, child laborers, children affected by disaster, HIV/AIDS infected children, differently-able children and trafficked children. She also highlighted on the CHILDLINE 1098 intervention model and its operational structure.
She said that the Community Educational Centre Society (CECS) based in Dimapur acts as the nodal organisation along with Prodigals Home, Dimapur launched in 2011, Nagaland Voluntary Health Association in Kohima launched in 2015 and Care and Support Society in Mokokchung launched on June 1 as collaborative organisations.
