Kohima Police seize heroin worth Rs 1.5 cr

Kohima, November 24 (MExN): Kohima Police on Wednesday seized 520 grams of suspected heroin worth approximately Rs 1.5 crore in the international market during routine checking of vehicles at Phesama.  According to a press note from the Kohima Police PRO, on Wednesday morning, a team of Kohima Police while conducting routine checking of vehicles at Phesama, intercepted one Mahindra Scorpio which was proceeding towards Dimapur from Senapati in Manipur. A total of 498 grams of suspected heroin neatly packed in 39 soap cases were detected in the vehicle, concealed underneath the spare tyre and engine compartment, it said.   In this connection, two persons, identified as Timothy and Matia were arrested and the contraband along with the vehicle have been seized. During preliminary investigation, the value of the illegal contraband was found to be worth approximately Rs 1.5 crore in the international market. Accordingly, a case has been registered at South Police Station for the purpose of further investigation, the PRO stated.
