Konyak Student's Union Kohima hosts 37th fresher’s meet

T Yangseo Sangtam, Deputy Speaker, Nagaland Legislative Assembly today said many students or freshers from Mon, Tobu, Aboi or Tizit may not get the opportunity to study in the state capital Kohima due to financial constraints or may not have gotten admission seat or enrolment into preferred educational institutions. He said the new entrants were lucky to be enrolled here. 

He was speaking as guest of honour during the Konyak Student's Union Kohima (KSUK) 37th fresher’s meet cum felicitation programme at State Academy Hall today under the theme ‘Confluence through Education.’ 

Calling it a crucial stage for the freshers, Yangseo advised the students to work hard as there is no shortcut to life and invest now in the academics so that there is greater impact in the future.

He said the students will face situations and temptations ahead but said the choice was in one's own hand and asked them to be careful. The Deputy Speaker also remarked that in the past the people did not remain united, or did not support and encourage each other. “I feel this is one reason why we lacked behind for a long time,” he said.  

On this, he called the students and the community both elders and students’ community to help one other and take forward the issues ahead of them. 

Commenting that ‘we are living in a digital age,’ he asked the students to diligently make use technology and balance the use of modern gadgets for the advantage rather become victims of its consequences which has direct and indirect impact. 

Chairman NPSC, Honje Konyak also addressed the students as guest speech. Speech on behalf of the freshers was delivered by Kaiba T and M Honli Konyak, President Konyak Students' Union, Kohima delivered the presidential address. H Moba, Nyeeyompa, KBBK gave a special prayer for the students.
