PYS golden jubilee kicks off

Nagaland Planning & Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Neiba Kronu today graced the inaugural function of the golden jubilee celebration of Phusachodumi Youth Society (PYS) at Phusachodu village in Phek district.
Speaking during the occasion, Kronu complimented Phusachodumi for its progressive atmosphere in various fields. He called upon the people to intensify effort on preservation and conservation of forest and bio-diversity.
Kronu said that forest conservation will not only facilitate sustainable water sources but would also determine the pride and wealth of the state. He also called upon the PYS to strictly enforce the ban on hunting and jungle burning. Kronu meanwhile urged them to promote indigenous games to keep the rich culture and traditional practices alive.
Kronu encouraged the farmers to focus on large scale production and take the advantage of the marketing and transportation facilities being extended by the government. He also assured to construct a marketing shed at Phusachodu village.
On the ongoing two lane road projects within Phek district, he expressed optimism that Phek district would have one of the best roads in the state in two years time. The Minister also informed that the government would pay attention towards the improvement of medium and agri link road in the state.
On the sports sector, he maintained that prominent sports persons are regarded as the most respected person in the world today. Stating that there is no easy route to succeed in the field of games and sports, he said “It requires enormous amount of labour, dedication and sincerity,” he said.
In this, the minister called upon the youth to take sports seriously, adding that casual attitude will not yield any positive result. Maintaining that a balanced diet is paramount for sportspersons, he said that unregulated food habits would invite health complications. He hoped to see that the Naga youth fully utilize their talents and bring laurels to the state.
Also speaking during the occasion as the guest of honour, Vekhosa Kotso, Commandant of 10th NAP (IR) Zhadima called upon PYS to revive the indigenous games apart from its concentration on modern sports activities. He encouraged the youngsters to focus on regular practices and choose the discipline wisely according to their ability and physical structure.
Earlier, PYS President, Vesüli Theluo delivered the presidential address. PYS Games and Sports Secretary, Besuhtsoyi Vero administered oath to the participating teams.
The golden jubilee celebration will continue till December 17. Four khels will compete for top honours in track & field events and games.
