KSU organises workshop on ‘Inter-Generational Listening Skills’

In a wake to celebrate its 75th birth Anniversary of the Kyong Students’ Union, (KSU) a one day workshop on ‘Inter-Generational Listening Skills’ was organized by KSU that was held today here at Lotha Tribal Council Hall with District Agriculture Officer Ramushan Tsopoe, as the Chief Guest.

KSU is all in set to celebrate its biggest achievements in the month of December, likewise in the yearlong celebration, KSU have been conducting various activities and this year, first of its kind, the Kyongs will be observing one of the biggest event, a combine Teachers Day celebration on September 5 at Don Bosco Higher secondary school Wokha, where Recognition of Best Teachers will be awarded from every institutions. Altogether 92 teachers are nominated for the most coveted Platinum Jubilee Award.

Speaking at the function the chief guest said, “Obedience, love, respect, simpleton and forgiveness” is the most important observable fact in human life. “If you possess all these quality, you will be an asset to the Society, and you will see bright future awaits you,” said Tsopoe. He also identified “Taboo” to be respected besides trying to figure out the reason behind and added that “Truth” is another biggest weapon in human life stating that nothing can move, change or replace truth. While acknowledging the noble deeds of the teachers, he also appealed not to get annoyed on transfer issue; he strongly urged the teachers to accept it, be it far or near, as the selfless sacrifice is truly remembered.

Jubilee Overall coordinator, NSN Lotha, delivered the concept on Inter-Generational Listening Skills, said is an ability to understand the minds of people of different generations which is also a skill to listen and accommodate the diverse opinions of the different age groups ranging so extremely from the infants to the oldest living people. “There is a wide ranging ideological gap amongst the different generations, especially the youths and the elders, and if we allow the gap to grow, the loss to the society could be very considerable, especially in the field of traditional values, land and its development, loss of traditional knowledge in general and particular,” noted Lotha. He also identified the urgent need to address IGLS, as there is no short cut to solve this problem and the best method could be to frequently organize youth-Elders Dialogue or Summits and share their similarities or common differences.

1985 KSU President, in his Brief Address noted the workshop as very important to build up the broken bridge. “You and I can brighten up the Kyong Society, lets put our heads together and move forth with better understanding as we celebrate 75th birth Anniversary of KSU achievements. President KSU, Yiben Humtsoe delivered welcome address. Representatives from different village councils, GBs, elders, church leaders, teachers, students leaders participated in the one-day Workshop.
