Dimapur, February 4 (MExN): The Kyong Students Union (KSU) today responded to the Assamese militant group, the All Adivasi National Liberation Army (AANLA) over contentions understood to have been made by the latter.
The KSU referred to a statement said to be issued by one Etwa Urang, “publicity secretary” of the AANLA, published in the Media. What the statement was about was not specified in the response of the KSU received here today. The KSU said the said statement of the militant group is ‘baseless’ and ‘ridiculous.’
The Nagas and particularly the Kyong community are not in misconception about the illegal activities and demands of the AANLA militants, the KSU said. “There were around 200-300 AANLA cadres imparting military skills and not around 60 cadres as mentioned by Mr. Urang. From which authority they got the permission to occupy Lothas’ land and wait for Assam government to allot a designated camp?” the KSU asked.
“Nagaland is not a place for AANLA militants to take shelter and to demand an autonomous council or other privileges from Assam government”. We are not against Assam government for providing any privileges to AANLA but we are against of setting up of training camp by AANLA militants at Ralan area, Wokha district. If AANLA demand any privileges from Assam government then their base or training camp must establish in Assam territory and not in Wokha, Nagaland,” the students’ organization stated.
The KSU also denounced what it called the prejudiced functioning of Ramowtar, Sector Commander and Inspector Prasad, Post Commander, of the Chetiagaon 155BN CRPF.
Nonetheless, the KSU acknowledged the assurance given by the Commandant of the 155BN CRPF of Bokajan SK Mishra to maintain neutrality in the border areas. “As a neutral force Shri. Ramowtar and inspector Prasad fails to maintain neutrality in the hyper tension border area and assisting the AANLA militants which is very unbecoming for a paramilitary officer for such bias functioning,” the KSU said.
The union demands from the authorities that the two CRPF officers namely Ramowtar and Prasad be transferred from their present posting ‘as they do not deserve to be posted in a sensitive border area.’ The KSU has also demanded disciplinary action against the two.
