Kuzhe cultural society celebrates 25th anniversary

Phek, October 26 (MExN): The Kuzhe Cultural Society (KCS) celebrated its 25th anniversary at Pfutsero town under Phek district on October 25.
The 25th anniversary flag was unfurled by guest speaker Welete Kapfo, PS to Minister Planning & Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs. Speaking on the occasion, Kapfo said that music is a part of life and that every emotion and situation can be used to express through music. He reminded the congregation on the age-old virtue of 'fear', 'shame' and 'taboo' and urged upon the people to follow those good virtues.
KCS was founded by late Mechimvii Ritse in the year 1994. Since inception, the Kuzhe Cultural Society represented Nagaland state on several occasions. In the year 1999, the group was awarded gold in folk song competition at National Youth festival held at Chennai. In 2000, the group got gold in solo folk song held at Shillong. On numerous occasions, the cultural group was accorded due recognition in cultural songs and dances.
During the celebration, an indigenous double quartet competition took place wherein Leshemi Kezuwe Group, Thetsiimi Youth Society and Pfutseromi Youth Society stood Ist, 2nd and 3rd position respectively. The consolation prize winners were Lewoza Youth Society and Chizami Youth Society. The celebration was followed by anniversary feast.
