KVK Peren conducts skill training for rural youth

Peren, November 12 (MExN): KVK Peren, ICAR RC for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, Jalukie conducted a week-long skill training programme for rural youths on Piggery Rearing and Management at KVK Peren Office from November 6 to 11.  


The aim of the training was to provide participants the scientific knowledge regarding piggery farming and management. 


A press release from KVK Peren stated that during the technical session, Dr L Babita Devi, Course Director and Head (I/C)) delivered lectures on various topics viz. why and how of pig farming, care and management of different age groups, health care and disease management, eco friendly pig farming using IMO, integrated pig-fish farming as well as housing and feeding management in pig.


As a part of the training programme, the participants were taken for exposure visit to visit the pig farm at College of Veterinary Science, CAU, Jalukie. During the valedictory session, Z James Kikon (ACTO, S/Sc) exhorted the farmers to start entrepreneurship in the field of agriculture as well as animal husbandry. 


The programme concluded with distribution of certificates and inputs like mineral mixtures, antibiotics, deworming tablets, antiseptic ointments, potassium permanganate and vegetable seeds to the farmers. Altogether 16 participants attended the programme.
