KVK Peren holds training for Agri personnel

Peren, December 11 (MExN): KVK Peren under ICAR Research Complex for NER Nagaland Centre, Jalukie conducted three days training programme for extension personnel of Agri and allied department on the topic “Biodiversity Conservation and PPVFRA-2001” from December 3-5 at KVK Peren office to make the Extension personnel aware about the PPVFRA, its functions on how to protect the Rights of farmers and the Benefits and Awards under the Act for communities as well as individuals engaged in Biodiversity conservation. Resource persons for the programme were Z.James Kikon, ACTO, Soil Science, Pfokroni Mao, CoOrd Monitoring & Evaluation, NERLP Jalukie, Dr.Patu K.Zeliang, ACTO, PBG and Dr. Harendra Verma, Scientist PBG, ICAR.

The topics covered under the programme were Biodiversity Conservation and its importance, Biodiversity and Ecotourism, Crop Diversification for Sustainable Agriculture, Community Seed Banking and Germplasm Conservation, PPVFRA-Characteristics, Objectives and Functions, Relevance of PPVFRA in Nagaland, Role of Extension Functionaries in Biodiversity Conservation and PPVFRA.

On the last day Practical session on registration process of crops to the PPVFRA like how to collect crop data, preparation of samples and filling up of the forms for submission to the PPVFRA authority was conducted. All together ten participants from Agri Dept. Jalukie and ATMA Jalukie block attended the programme. The training programme was coordinated by Dr.Patu K.Zeliang, ACTO, PBG, KVK Peren.
