The 46th biennial general conference of the Northern Angami Students' Union (NASU) under the theme ‘Embracing change & transformation’ got underway this evening at Botsa village. The three-day conference is hosted by Botsa Students' Union (BSU).

The introductory session was graced by Additional Director, Department of Economics & Statistics, Neidilhou Angami as the special guest with officials of Northern Angami Sports Association (NASA) and Northern Angami Youth Organisation (NAYO) as session guests.

Speaking at the introductory session, Angami said, “everyone wants to embrace and transform” and the way is inculcating and nurturing the good values in life - honesty, integrity, uprightness etc.

Stressing on the importance of having accurate facts and figures, he said having accurate statistical data is key to planning, formulation and policy intervention. Accurate data have numerous benefits for the people as a whole, said Angami.

“Perhaps, we are lagging behind in so many things because of non availability of accurate facts and figures,” said Angami. To this end, he stressed on the need for the people to provide accurate facts and figures inorder to transform and grow as people.

Stating that “when the citizen of the country is poor, the country is poor and vice versa,” he emphasized “if we want our government to help us in the best possible way, we also need to change our mindset so that we can transform and grow hand in hand.”

He urged the students to strive towards embracing change and transformation, but reminded that it should not be at the expense or cost of someone else.

Angamis takeaway advice to the students was “learning to accept and adapt change and transformation by nurturing the right culture and values” to bring change and transformation in oneself and the society as a whole.

The inaugural session will be held on March 27 with Advisor, Technical Education & Election, Medo Yhokha as the special guest and officials from Northern Angami Public Organisation (NAPO) and Northern Angami Women Organisation (NAWO) as session guests.

Student delegates from 20 villages under Northern Angami area are in attendance of the conference.
