Legal Services Stall successful at Hornbill Festival

Kohima, December 10 (MExN): The Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) took part in the 10 days Hornbill Festival at Kisama. Distribution of pamphlets and booklets and other programmes took place in the Legal Services Stall.  

A press release from NSLSA stated that a Legal Awareness programme was held on day 8 of the festival. Justice N Kotishwar Singh, Judge Gauhati High Court & Executive Chairman, NSLSA, spoke on the topic “Know Your Constitution” to students from Mezhur Higher Secondary School, Kohima College, Kohima Law College, Panel Lawyers & PLVs of KDLSA and people visiting the stall.  

He highlighted about the Constitution and its importance. He stressed on the importance of Fundamental Rights and stated that Right to equality is the most important Right given to the citizen of India. Quiz Competition was also conducted and gift hampers were awarded to the winners.  

On Day 9, Justice S. Serto, Judge Gauhati High Court, Kohima Bench and Laxmindhar Pangari, Senior Advocate took part in the programme. Pangari shared the importance of work as a lawyer and how they can contribute to the society and said that Legal Aid is a very big movement where justice can be given by our Constitution. He encouraged the panel lawyers to carry on with educating someone on how to avail his/her rights and in helping to achieve justice.  

Justice S. Serto also encouraged the lawyers to walk with a purpose and never to give up. “No matter what life throws at us we should always learn to move forward and overcome those challenges because it is not how well a person starts, but how persistent one can be, Serto added. During the 10 days Hornbill Festival, NSLSA reached out to about 9000 beneficiaries.
