Naga Council office will remain close on Nov 14-26

Dimapur, November 10 (MExN):
This is to inform the public that the office of the Naga Council will remain closed from November 14 to 26, 2011 on account of the Council’s Holy Land Pilgrimage. The council team consisting of 30 members will also visit Egypt and Jordan apart from Israel. The office of the Naga Council shall resume its business from November 28. Naga Council appeals to well-wishers to pray for the Team’s safe pilgrimage. This was informed in a press note issued by Joel Nillo Kath, Finance Secy Naga Council.

NU awards Doctorate to Sr Ranit

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 10 (MExN):
The Nagaland University on October 11 has awarded Degree of PhD to Sr Thresiamma VG (popularly known as Sr Ranit) on the topic ‘Constitutional Safeguards for the Scheduled Caste and the Schedule Tribes in Northeast India: A Critical Study’. The PhD was done under the supervision of Dr H. John Sema, Department of Political Science, Nagaland University, Lumami. At present she is serving as Vice-Principal of St Joseph’s College, Jakhama.  

Rongmei general conference postponed

Dimapur, November 10 (MExN):
The general conference of the Rongmei Council (Assam, Manipur and Nagaland) which was to be held on November 18, 2011 is indefinitely postponed, till further notice due to the present prevailing situation in Manipur. This was informed in a press note issued by James Akham, president Rongmei Council Nagaland.

District level exhibition cum competition and sales

Dimapur, November 10 (MExN):
Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Phek in collaboration with Chakhesang Women’s Welfare Society will organize one day District Level Exhibition-cum- competition and sale on November 18, 2011 at Pfutsero town (local ground). A press note issued by Dr. Moa Walling, District horticulture Officer & project director, ATMA Phek stated that the objective in organizing the exhibition is to disseminate the various activities of the Agri & allied departments and to motivate farmers in particular. The note also directed all public, farmers from all the villages to participate in the exhibition-cum-competition and sale. However, ATMA Phek will not reimburse or give transportation expenses for any participants.  Attractive prizes in kinds (not cash) will be awarded to the first, second, third and five consolations under all categories. Receipt of the exhibits from the participants will start from 4:00 pm on November 17, 2011 from categories starting from serial number 1 to 5 and for flowers, poultry and fish exhibits from 6:00 am to 8:00 am on November 18, 2011. Prizes will be given away at 2:00 pm. Further, the note mentioned that for the interest and benefit of the public Pfutsero Block, ASTMA Phek will organize a demonstration on cultivation of Oyster Mushroom for which all are welcome.
 
National painting competition today 

Dimapur, November 10 (MExN):
National painting competition organized by Indian Council for Child Welfare, New Delhi and hosted by Nagaland Council for Child Welfare will be held on November 11, 2011 at Tribal Welfare Complex (Social Welfare Office), Diphupar 4th mile at 1:00 pm. A press note issued by Yanger Walling, executive member, NCCW and Dokho Phira, vice-president (Dev) NCCW stated that the event will be graced by Khevito T. Shohe, director Social Welfare Department and president NCCW. All the selected schools are directed to reach the venue on time.
