Wokha, December 20 (DIPR): Erhumren Okho Pangti (EOP) will be organising career guidance cum Entrepreneur awareness programme at the Yondon Youth Association Pangti (YYAP) volley ball ground on December 27. The resource persons will deliver a speech on the prospect and avenue in present scenario such as academic competition, self-reliance, agri and allied sector and entrepreneurs. Transaction day of treasuries on Dec 21
Kohima, December 20 (DIPR): Officer-on-Special Duty (Gen) Finance Department (Treasuries & Accounts) V. Kezo has informed for all concerned that in view of the ensuing Christmas holidays and the heavy transactions involved, the Government has ordered that Wednesday the 21st of December 2011, which is a non-transaction day shall be declared a ‘Transaction Day’ for all Treasuries and Sub-Treasuries in the State.

SASU oppose to detonate massive explosive
Dimapur, December 20 (MExN): The Southern Angami Students’ Union (SASU) has strongly condemned the “plainly thoughtless intention” of the concern authorities to detonate the massive explosive, recently recovered at Kohima Village, at New Reserve ground, Phesama.
SASU President Keduvi Zhotso and Action Committee Convenor, Neikhovi Paphino in a joint press note stated that in doing so, the environment and human life and health itself would be in jeopardy, especially of those living in Kohima town and Southern Angami areas.
The SASU has therefore appealed to the concerned higher authorities of the State to seriously take up immediate steps to make alternative measures to detonate the live explosive in an uninhibited location. “The Union will in no condition tolerate the bomb to be exploded within our jurisdiction. This ultimate decision is taken in the greater interest of the environment in our land,” the Union further added.

Call for volunteers for Peace Channel
Dimapur, December 20 (MExN): Peace Channel an emerging youth peace movement of the 21st Century that aims at the transformation of individuals as peace lovers, peace makers and peace promoters, to create a major transformation from a culture of violence to a culture of peace. Peace Channel Desk in a press note stated that tt seeks to renew the humanity through promoting youth as leaders and peace activists. In this context Peace Channel looking forward to induct volunteer youths from all denominations and religious background.
The interested candidates should be at least 10+2 passed. According to Fr. C.P Anto Paul, Director Peace Channel, the selected candidates would be given five days capacity building on peace building and also have an opportunity to attend trainings and educational programmes, conflict transformation skills trainings organized by the Peace Channel and networking organizations during their volunteer period and after.
The intending candidates should be able to make a commitment of at least one year, and an due incentives will be paid to the volunteers during the period. YYAP 38th general session conducted
Pangti, December 20 (DIPR): The 38th general session of the Yondon Youth Association Pangti (YYAP) was held under the theme “Towards Higher Destination and Unity” at the YYAP office compound on December 20. The programme was graced by HOD Associate Professor (Commerce) Dimapur Government College R. Vanthungo Ngullie as the chief guest.
Speaking at the occasion Vanthungo spoke on the importance of Yondong historical events and urged upon the gathering not to damage the good image by themselves which has been shown the remarkable honour by the village. He said that youth need to take care of their life and rededicate themselves for blessing of channels. He further apprised the association that they should respect each other and maintain unity in the spirit of Christianity to bring peace and harmony in the society.
The programme was chaired by E. Emilo Kithan Social & Culture Secretary YYAP and the main speaker was Associate Pastor Pangti Baptist Church Pijamo Yanthan while invocation prayer was pronounced by R. Pijamani Ngullie. Welcome speech was delivered by Achumthung Shitiri President YYAP and the welcome song and special number were presented by Phantidenro and elder women group respectively.

CNEF Chizami Wine Festival underway
CHIZAMI (PHEK), December 20 (MExN): The Corporation North East Farmers (CNEF) Chizami on Monday organized a three-day Wine Festival at Silent Peak popularly known as Loko Ketu Chizami with Nerayi Vadeo, President Confederation of Naga Farmers Union (CNFU), Phek Division as the chief guest.
Speaking at the function, the chief guest appreciated the organizers for the initiative undertaken to promote the framers and also educating them to live for a better life with the available food resources.
While pointing out that there are many government schemes and programmes for the framers, he however, said that many of the schemes did not reach to the right person, such as natural calamities schemes which are being given to the people who are living in the town. He also said that the CNFU as a union for the farmers would fight and check that there is no partiality in distributing the schemes which are meant for the development of the farmers.
Citing an example, where the CNFU for the last two years has exporting Naga brand Brooms to cities like Delhi. He challenged the farmers to emulate them and utilize the available fruits resources. Ours is organic he said and encourages them to make use of them which can be marketed and can even export to other places.
He further, challenged the educated unemployed youths to inculcate the flair in every possible field. As he felt that hunting for white color jobs alone cannot make them a true educated person. He also said that the CNFU would work hand in hand with CNEF Chizami and help them in every possible way for the better living of the farmers.
It may be mentioned that the main objectives of the Wine Festival is to maintain the culture of fruits juice such as grapes, pineapple, guava, palm, passion fruits, banana, emplica, goose berry and grain wine. The festival also aim to encourage the farmers to utilized the available fruits which can be use in making different types of organic juices and can be marketed. It also organized with a view that it will help in boasting the economic standard of the villages.

DNP+ conducts workshop for jail personnel and inmates
Dimapur, December 20 (MExN): The Dimapur Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS (DNP+) conducted one day orientation workshop and sensitization with jail health care personnel and jail inmates on December 16, supported by Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS) Kohima from Sub – Jail, Dimapur on the theme “Reaching out the Unreached”.
A press note received here informed that the resource person for the programme were Yanger Aier, MIS Officer, DNP+ who spoke on the topic basic of HIV/AIDS, myths & misconception, Dr. Lanusungkum, Fellowship Nursing Home who spoke on the topic STI, condom education, voluntary testing and universal precaution. Moa Phom, President of DNP shared on the topic Substance abuse and HIV and Darshim spoke on the stigma and discrimination.
The programme was chaired by Penesa, Program Coordinator of DNP+ and vote of thanks was pronounced by Tiala Jamir, Social Worker, DNP+. Altogether more than 50 participants attended the programme along with the Jail Health Care Personnel of Sub-Jail, Dimapur.
Meanwhile, on December 19 the Directorate of Women Development, Kohima provided Nutritional support to Women Living with HIV (WLHIV) of DNP+. The Nutritional Support included Rice, Dal and Ghee which is being distributed to 123 WLHIV and which has been so much beneficial for WLHIV in terms of their health and contribution in their family needs.
