Local taxi has started plying from today in the state capital Kohima.
The state government has allowed taxis and auto rickshaws to ply with the condition that they carry not more than two and one passenger(s) respectively.
In compliance with the guidelines issued by Kohima deputy commissioner, the local taxis in Kohima have been color coded and permitted to ply only on the coded days, i.e Monday- Pink, Wednesday- Blue, Friday- Green and Saturday-Yellow.
Taxi fares have been fixed at Rs. 30 per passenger (Point to Point) and Rs. 100 for hire (Point to point).
Both the driver and the passengers have been asked to wear mask and use sanitizers at all times.
Meanwhile, Kohima DC Gregory Thejawelie stated that any taxi plying on non-coded days and not abiding by the guidelines shall be penalized as per the provisions of the law and the taxi permit will be cancelled.
