
Longleng, November 13 (MExN): Under the Bati Bachao Bati Padhao (BBBP) programme, the Mahila shakti Kendra and District administration Longleng in collaboration with Nagaland State Aids Control Society Longleng and Longleng Town Baptist Church conducted an awareness programme on ‘teenager pregnancy’ at Longleng town Baptist Church on November 13.
Around eight hundred students of various schools of Longleng town from age group of 13 to 19 years attended the awareness programme.
Resource person Lithei Phom, DSRC counselor, District Hospital emphasized on the three main topics – ‘Definition, Causes & prevention of Teenagers pregnancy’. She said that the main reasons for high rate of teenagers pregnancy is inadequate sex education and that one absolute method to prevent teenagers’ pregnancy is sexual abstinence.
Resource person Chingong Phom, Literature secretary PBCA Longleng spoke on moral ethics and advised the students not to be influenced by the peer pressure/bad company and urged them to choose healthy life, to avoid early marriages, to fear God and walk in His path.
Asserting that it will be difficult to live in a society where we are criticized for every little act, she challenged the students to be different and live life with dignity and achieve their goals with a difference.
P Phungla Women Welfare Officer MSK-DLCW, Longleng encouraged the students to take such programmes seriously.
Earlier, offertory prayer was led by Niamla Phom, Women Pastor LTBC and the programme concluded with a benediction by Pastor Nyangpong Konyak, Konyak Baptist fellowship Longleng.
