Longleng, May 16 (MExN): The monthly meeting of the Longleng District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) on May 16 has recommended the upgradation of the Officer-in-Charge (OC) Police Station in Tamlu to a Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) office.
According to a DIPR report, the proposal for upgradation of the Tamlu Police Station was deliberated by the house and subsequently recommended to the concerned department for necessary action.
The board also discussed a proposal submitted by the Tamlu Public Forum for construction of an all-weather road from Yimha Junction to Brua Namsang, connecting to the foothills road via Shetap village and Apoiji.
The matter was briefly highlighted by EAC Tamlu Mopling N Phom, following which the house agreed to forward the proposal to the government.
Presiding over the meeting, MLA and DPDB Chairman A Pongshi Phom also proposed the institution of a Board’s meritorious award for HSLC and HSSLC toppers, including subject toppers from both government and private schools, to be introduced from this year.
He further suggested undertaking a district-wide plantation drive in connection with World Environment Day. The house agreed to launch the plantation drive in Longleng town from the first week of June, focusing on ornamental trees.
Deputy Commissioner W Manpai Phom, NCS, urged Heads of Departments to remain stationed at their respective places of posting and ensure regular attendance and effective functioning of staff. He cautioned that departments found inactive or performing inadequately would be viewed seriously and reported to higher authorities.
Meanwhile, SDO Power Longleng Moiching Shembu presented a sensitisation programme on smart meter installation, while District Soil and Water Conservation Officer P Angming Konyak highlighted departmental activities.
District Economics and Statistics Officer Nyushotho Nyuthe informed the house about the launch of digital Aadhaar registration for children aged 0 to 5 years.
The chairman entrusted the Medical Department to present its activities in the next DPDB meeting.
