Longleng & Mon DLSA conduct legal awareness prog

Dimapur, February 6 (MExN): Longleng (District Legal Services Authority) DLSA conducted legal awareness on Motor Vehicle Act, 2019 and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 with students of Christian High School, Children Home and Tribalhood Hostel, Nyengching, Longleng on January 28 and 31 respectively.

 


During the awareness programme at Christian High School, keynote address was delivered by Imlichuba PLV while P Monyei Phom, Panel Lawyer spoke on the topic “Motor Vehicle Act 2019.”

 


Mon DLSA also organized one-day legal awareness programme at Holy Angel School, Tizit on January 30. N Mannon, Project Assistant DLSA Mon delivered the keynote address. She deliberated on various topics like POCSO Act, 2012, Consumer Protection Act, RTE, RTI and Child Labour among others. She also shared the functioning and success stories accomplished by Mon DLSA. 

 


Angun, Panel Lawyer spoke on POCSO. More than 51% according to 2007 census where crime cases have been registered under POSCO which is increasing rapidly day by day, she said while adding POCSO is a gender neutral case.

 


H Topha, Panel Lawyer spoke on Consumer Protection Act &RTE topics. He called upon the students to be “more vigilant” while doing so as consumers and also to claim one's own rights without fear and hesitation and elaborated on how to get registered on the cases under Consumer Protection Act. He added that under RTE, every child between the age of 6-14 years must be given free and compulsory education.
