Longsa students get update on life-dynamics

Longsa Students’ Union held a seminar on the topic ‘awareness and preparedness,’ at old Duncan Fellowship, October 2, with Jacenta Teleu, Temjenlemla and Moa Imsong as its resource persons. Around one hundred participants attended the seminar which was sponsored by the Union’s Treasurer, Noksashiba Pongen.

Speaking on HIV/AIDS at the occasion, Jacinta, who is the Project Manager of Native Oasis, gave an elaborate lecture on the disease and its related matters. She said that harm reduction of STD disease is ‘through condoms, and condoms only.’ She also informed that blood tests available in Nagaland cannot detect HIV/AIDS during the window period i.e. day one to 3 months. She also showed some photo clippings to the audience and distributed some HIV/AIDS related materials to the participants.

Temjenlemla, a lecturer at DBC, Dimapur, speaking on the topic ‘How to choose an ideal partner’ held view that “Heaven on earth is when the husband and wife live in perfect understanding of each other.” She also advised the participants to choose their partners very carefully taking into account various social, religious and traditional factors of choosing a suitable life partner.

Moa Imsong, a counselor with the Dimapur Ao Baptist Church, talking on the topic ‘career guidance’ and “Choosing a career is a once in a life time event,” said that youth time is a time to prepare for the future. He advised the participants to have varied interests and also ‘look into’ the fields of architect engineering, medicine, modeling, fashion designing, acting as well. He also said that there is no unemployment problem in Nagaland because unemployment depends on the individual only.

Earlier the programme was chaired   by Imli Pongen. The programme was attended by around one hundred Longsa students. The programme ended with an exhortation and benediction by Dr Bendangla and Amongla respectively.
