Wokha, November 15 (MExN): The Lotha Hoho, on Monday informed that in a meeting on November 9, 2021, it resolved to expel from Wokha district anyone who initiates to bail out any arrested drug smuggler/peddler.
“This resolution has firmly been adopted on the unanimous conclusion that abuse of drugs, in most cases, amount to invalidating/spoiling the life of the addict; and thereby, practically amounts to murder of especially the youth and hence, the next generation,” stated a press release issued by the Lotha Hoho, Chairman, Er Mhondamo Ovung and Joint Secretar, Amios Odyuoe.
The resolution to expel drug smuggler/peddler from its jurisdiction had also been adopted by the Wokha Village Council on October 23 meeting.
Therefore, it stated that the Lotha Hoho and Wokha Village Council, with the support of the community, will take stringent action against anyone smuggling, stocking and selling illegal drugs, within Wokha district.
“Stern action will also be taken against anyone selling any drug such as Cough syrup, without doctor's prescription, which will be by way of expulsion, cancellation of permit or both. All these Deterrent actions shall be done as per the Lotha Naga Customary Law, with immediate effect,” it cautioned.
