
Satoi Range GBs Association submits representation to DoSE
Satoi, March 11 (MExN): The lack of adequate teaching staff at the Government High School, Satoi has been affecting the quality of education as well as enrolment of students, according to the Satoi Range GBs Association.
On Friday, the Association drew attention to the grievances aired by the student community from the 11 villages under Satoi Range of Zunheboto district by submitting a representation to the Director for School Education Wonthungo Tsopoe.
As per the representation, the Government High School, Satoi has been without a science teacher since 2017 and without headmaster or assistant headmaster since 2019.
The school has only four Arts Graduate teachers, one Maths teacher and three under graduate teachers (UGT), three Hindi teachers, one carpentry instructor, and one Physical Education Teacher for the entire school which comprises of Classes A to 10.
“Due to shortage of graduate teacher and no Science at GHS, Satoi the students are not taking admission, thereby there is a poor student enrolment,” the representation stated, while adding that there is not even a single government staff quarter for the accommodation of teachers and staff.
“We need urgent allotment and construction of government quarters,” it added.
It further said that the Association had carried out a physical inspection of all the primary schools and Government High School, Satoi to get a ground report of infrastructure developments and for improvement of student enrollment after receiving a complaint from the student community in the region.
In view of the ground situation, the Satoi Range GBs association appealed to the Department of School Education to refrain from downgrading the high school and instead, take immediate note of the genuine grievances and allot the required number of teachers so that students can avail admission in Class 10.
