LPO says Interlocutor ‘erecting trust deficit’

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 14 (MExN): The Lotha public organization (LPO) has backed the Naga Hoho and Naga Mother Association in criticising Nagaland Governor and Government of India’s Interlocutor, RN Ravi “for erecting trust deficit in the Naga peace process even after all the close packed work of 23 years of Indo-Naga political talk having passed through six successive Prime Minister of India.

A press release from the LPO publicity cell stated that “India being the largest democracy on earth and having great culture, the entire world looks at India with great respect.” “Therefore, polarising a small Naga nation and subjugating their rights to self determination will only develop a mockery before the globe,” it added. The LPO asserted that the prevailing Indo-Naga ceasefire “is the standing evidence of Naga goodwill towards India to live in peaceful coexistence.”

It however expressed regret that the Nagaland Governor and Interlocutor, RN Ravi “even after 5 years of signing the Framework Agreement seems to still have bureaucratic mind to resolve the political problem of the Nagas.”

“The irony is when RN Ravi is creating apprehension at this crucial time to refer the Naga political groups as mere ' armed gangs' when a political negotiation for peace is ongoing,” the LPO stated and added that the Naga political issue “needs political intervention and Ravi himself has demonstrated time and again his Achilles heel in dealing with the political problem.”

The LPO said that the Interlocutor “should abdicate his position at the earliest by someone who possesses political will and enjoys confidence and trust of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”

Further the LPO urged upon the Naga people to “unite at this trying times and defend the unbecoming attitude shown by the Interlocutor of Naga peace talk and remain steadfast with prayerful attitude as the negotiating parties are under way to push for its long awaited final settlement.”
