LSU pulled up; 20 signatories withdraw

Dimapur May 3 (MExN): In a run-up to the Wokha PM Package controversy, political stalwart and Class-I Government registered contractor Thomas Ngullie has expressed surprise at what he said was finding the Lotha Students Union (LSU) taking the responsibility of “some crooked, unscrupulous individuals” who submitted a representation to the Chief engineer (NPWD) by one Likao Lotha allegedly with coerced and false signatories campaigned by T Chinithung Lotha and Mhademo Shitio.

In a strong repudiation, Thomas Ngullie drew the attention of the LSU towards its stand and to answer as to how it prompted the students’ organization to take the responsibility. “What technical knowledge does the Lotha students Union have, to question the technicality of the NPWD, who are qualified builders of Nagaland” Ngullie questioned asserting that “my goodwill is with the NPWD and we should not deter with such childish gimmicks.” Ngullie made known that a representation was forwarded to the Chief Engineer (NPWD) by the aforementioned individuals with coerced and false signatures wherein the signatories were duped. “Accordingly the signatories on their own volition appeared before the Chief Engineer NPWD on 2nd May and explained as to how they were made to sign” Ngullie said adding that they withdrew their signatories voluntarily.

Meanwhile adding to the twist, 20 of the signatories of the said representation issued a statement strongly asserting that they were made to sign of a plain paper by the said petitioners on the pretext that the Lotha Students Union was writing a memorandum to the government of Nagaland. The signatories “in good faith signed the papers on seeing the Lotha students Union writing pad and the president and General Secretary’s signatures and seal thereon”.

“However, we were appalled to see our signatures on the said subject. In fact we are pleased to see the developmental works going on in and around Wokha town and we will never be a party to see such unscrupulous acts of T Chinithung, Likao and Mhademo Shitio” a statement signed by Yonny, A Nongothung Kikon, R Abeni Humtsoe, Y Irene Mozhui, Kumar, R Ben Tungoe, Jessy Mozhui, Penathung Kikon, Yanbothung Lotha, R Renjamo Lotha, Lothunglo Lotha, Chumben Tungoe, Zubonthung Yanthan, Roselyn, Joseph Lotha, Zubenthung Humtsoe, Kumchanbeni, Libeni Mozhui, Eyingo and Khyopen Tsopoe stated. Demanding a public apology from the three said persons who are ‘traitors to the Lotha community’ according to the signatories, it was urged that a legal action be initiated against the “traitors.”
