Many offer condolences, prayers to Nagaland CM’s family

Kohima, January 2 (MExN): Following the demise of Kevilhouü Rio, mother of Neiphiu Rio, Chief Minister of Nagaland and Zhalieo Rio, Advisor to Sericulture, Excise and Minority Affairs, who passed away on January 1, 2020 at Kohima, condolence messages and tributes have poured in from several originations and individuals.
CMO/CMS: The Officers and Staff of the Chief Minister’s Office and Chief Minister’s Secretariat also expressed deep pain and sadness upon the demise of late Kevilhouü Rio.
“Late Kevilhouü Rio was a woman of substance and a pillar of strength to all her descendants throughout her life. Even though her husband Late Guolhoulie Rio and father of Chief Minister pre-deceased her about 30 years ago, she remained steadfast and committed to the well-being of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren,” stated a condolence message received here.
“She was a humble, loving, caring and God-fearing mother who raised her children well to become eminent personalities in the state and the country such as well-known businessmen, doctors, educationists, senior bureaucrat who went on to become a prominent politician representing one of the biggest constituencies in the state, and most notably, four-time Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio,” stated Lhoubeilatuo Kire, Addl Chief Secretary to Chief Minister and all Officers and Staff of CMO/CMS.
In her demise, the family and the people have lost a role model, a prayer warrior and a kind soul who cannot be replaced by any measure, the condolence message added.
CPO: The Chakhroma Public Organisation (CPO) and all its frontal organisations are saddened at the demise of late Kevilhouü Rio. “Her children, through her prayers and dedication, are now leaders in various fields and capacities. At this hour of grief and sorrow, we the CPO convey our deepest condolences to the bereaved family of Neiphiu Rio and his siblings. May God grant you comfort and solace to overcome this great loss may the departed soul rest in peace,” stated a press note issued by CPO President Vichütuolie Mere and General Secretary Mhiesisato Vüprü.
NCSU: The Nagaland Contractor's and Supplier's Union (NCSU) has expressed deep sadness over the demise of late Kevilhouü Rio, wife of Lt. Gulhoulie Rio, the founding member of NCSU. NCSU President Pele Khezhie and General Secretary John Kath in a condolence message stated that “she was a great mother who produces great leaders of Nagaland. She was God fearing mother. In her death, we have lost such a visionary mother. May the departed soul rest in peace.”
SAPO: The Southern Angami Public Organisation (SAPO) in a condolence message said that it is saddened on the demise of late Kevilhouü Rio. The SAPO remembered her as “a kind, upright woman, and the ultimate epitome of goodness as a human, a source of blessing to many for her dedicated, tireless humanitarian service; a prayer warrior who has helped and inspired many lives and left a legacy of love, affection and compassion; and a true mother whose love shall ever remain and endure upon us.” SAPO prayed that may Almighty God grant solace and comfort to the bereaved family and may her soul rest in eternal peace.
AYO: Angami Youth Organization (AYO) stated that “Kevilhouü Rio was the rock of a family dedicated to public service.”
“We will always be grateful to her for the generosity she showed and displayed to us throughout her life, but we are more grateful for the way she lived a fulfilled life- as a testament to the fact that securing her children in public service is an important and noble calling; as an example of the humility and decency that reflects the very best of the Angami Naga spirit,” AYO president Neinguvotuo Krose and general secretary Kekhrie Pfukha stated in a condolence message.
She will be remembered for passing those Naga values on to her children, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren - and to the countless citizens who she inspired to become "points of light" in service to others, it added.
NMA: Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA) expressed deep pain at the passing away of late Kevilhouü Rio and remembered her as “a motherly figure to the Association since its inception and was a strong supporter in the mothers endeavor for fighting the social issues and for peace. She was a devout prayerful woman and would encourage the mothers to be strong and to be the best people they could be. She has lived a beautiful and fulfilling life. A good soul has passed on, and a beautiful soul has gone to heaven.” The Association prays that may she rest in eternal peace with the Lord and NMA also sends deepest sympathy with prayer that “the comforting hands of God’s presence be with all the family members and friends.”
NCA: On the demise of late Kevilhouü Rio, Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA) extended its heartfelt condolences and sincere prayers to all the family members.
Late Kevilhouü, grandmother of Nagaland Cricket Association, President, Kechangulie Rio was a truly devout and prayerful mother and wife, who also groomed and guided her children to grow up to handle and manage the affairs of Nagaland State with dedication, the NCA stated in a press release. The Association also conveyed that they shares in the grief of the family and prays that the Lord God Almighty may continue to provide solace, love and protection to all.
Dy CM: The Dy CM and BJP Leader Y Patton expressed sadness to learn about the demise of late Kevilhouü Rio. Patton described late Kevilhouü as a God fearing woman who had been a source of strength and inspiration to those around her. She raised one of the tallest political leaders of our time in the form of our present CM besides other notable siblings. During this hour of grief, the Dy CM on behalf of the state BJP joins the bereaved family in mourning, while praying for the departed soul to find rest in eternal peace.
NDPP: NDPP President Chingwang Konyak on behalf of the rank and file expressed shock and sadness at the sad demise of Kevilhouü-ü Rio. “Every person understands the love of a mother and to lose someone so cherished and dear is an anguish that words cannot describe. Her passing has left an indelible mark even within the NDPP itself for we strongly believe that it is partly through her blessings and prayers that the party is what it is today,” he stated while praying for her soul to rest in His loving arms in eternal peace.
NDDP secretary general: NDDP secretary general Abu Metha in a condolence message stated that late Kevilhouü Rio was an extraordinary woman who exemplified an ideal mother and wife with the virtues of strong character and kind heartedness.
Her late husband was a prominent personality and a public leader in his own right. She belonged to a generation that silently toiled and laid the foundation of what our society is today, he said.
Metha stated that the fact that her husband and her children have all gone on to become leaders and contributors towards the growth of Nagaland speaks volumes of the role she has played and strength of her character.
He continued that apart from the Honorable Chief Minister and an Honorable Advisor, her children and grand children are leaders in different spheres including education, medicine, social service, entrepreneurship and the corporate sector. The achievements and contributions of her children and her grandchildren are as much her achievements and contributions too as it is her upbringing which has moulded all of them.
Minister Temjen Imna: In a condolence message, Temjen Imna Along, Minister of Higher& Technical Education, Tribal Affairs stated “The pain of losing a loving mother is intense. Yet, we take solace in faith and hope that God has called her 'Home'. He stated that Kevilhouü Rio had lived her life to the fullest, a faithful woman who feared and served the Lord all her life. “Indeed, she was a virtuous woman, an honorable wife, and a praying mother, who was a blessing to all her children and grand children,” Along stated. "Many women have done well, but you excel them all," the minister added.
Advisor Noke: Advisor, Department of Social Welfare & Home Guard & Civil Defence, Noke Wangnao expressed sadness at the demise of late Kevilhoü Rio. “My thought goes out to each and everyone in your family at this hour,” Noke prayed while adding that the family finds the much needed comfort, peace and strength during this time of grief.
NPF president: Expressing grief and pain at the demise of Kevilhouü Rio, Naga People’s Front (NPF) president Dr. Shürhozelie Leizietsü stated “Losing a mother is irreplaceable and is most tragic and excruciatingly painful, and we empathize with your emotional distress at this hour of grief.”
In a condolence message, Dr. Leizietsü stated “Late Kevilhouü was a God fearing, hard working and upright woman as it is a fact that she had raised such an illustrious sons and daughters-speaks volume of the character that your mother possessed.”
Her demise is a misfortune for all of us and the legacy left behind by her exemplary life will always be remembered in the days to come, he added.
NPCC: The NPCC president K. Therie said that he is extremely pained to learn of the demise of late Kevilhouü Rio. “Though your family has many reasons to celebrate her life, we know no words can comfort the loss of your late mother. My wife and family join me in sharing your grief and our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this time of painful parting. I also convey deepest condolences on behalf of all rank and file of NPCC to you and your family members,” Therie conveyed in a message addressed to the CM. “It is our prayer that the Grace of the Almighty God be with you and comfort and console you all,” he added.
NDPP 5 Ghaspani-II: NDPP 5 Ghaspani-II A/ C expressed deep sadness at the demise of late Kevilhouü Rio. A press release stated that late Kevilhouü was one dedicated mother whose perseverance and commitment as a mother with faith in God had borne fruit through her children who are leaders of Nagas in various capacities today. The party expressed that her demise may be a mortal loss to the family and people around her but that her children would continue to uphold her rich legacy even in the coming days. The party further pray that the Almighty Lord be with the grieving family and also, bless the family as they overcome their sorrow and rebound to lead the Nagas into the future.
