Meluri, October 6 (MExN): The poor condition of the Akash Bridge-Akhegwo road stretch came under discussion at the monthly District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) meeting in Meluri on October 6. The meeting, chaired by Advisor, NSDMA & Inland Waterways, Z. Nyusietho Nyuthe, was held at the DB’s Court, DC Office, Meluri.
Representatives of the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) were asked to provide an update on the ongoing road works covering around 16 km from Akash Bridge towards Akhegwo. Members expressed concern over the condition of the road and urged NHIDCL to take necessary measures for its improvement.
ADC Meluri Shelly Katiry, NCS, also raised concern over the road stretch, stating that it had been inspected by the Road Safety Committee and found to be in "very poor" condition. The Pochury Hoho also expressed dissatisfaction over the condition of the NHIDCL road and urged the concerned authority to address the issue at the earliest.
The meeting also discussed a request from the Meluri Sports Association for financial contributions from departments towards sports activities and development. On administrative matters, the ADC pointed out that Meluri district was still without a strong room with elections approaching. He requested that necessary arrangements be made at the earliest.
The chairman urged Heads of Offices to safeguard their respective departmental premises. He also requested that No Objection Certificates should not be issued for proposals that could affect or compromise departmental office premises, stressing the need to protect government office infrastructure and ensure its continued use for official purposes.
EAC Meluri Kum Pipfusapojar made a PowerPoint presentation on election-related matters, including the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Nagaland. She briefed the members on the objectives and process of the SIR, voter enrolment, verification of electoral details and the need to ensure inclusion of all eligible citizens in the electoral roll.
