Mhainamtsi Catholic community gets new Church

Peren, January 15 (MExN): St Thomas Church was blessed and inaugurated on January 14 at Mhainamtsi Village. The new Church building was blessed by Most Rev Dr James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima Diocese and inaugurated by Rev Dn Sherman Keuk OFS in the presence of Priests, Sisters, Church Leaders, well wishers and the Catholic community of St Xavier Parish, Jalukie.
A press release issued by Fr Renthungo Victor, Secretary to Bishop of Kohima stated that the dedication ceremony began with the rite of blessing presided by Most Rev Dr Thoppil. He said the prayer of blessing and sprinkled the holy water in and around the new church. Rev Dn Keuk inaugurated the Church on behalf of the benefactor.
Dn Keuk addressing the assembly during the homily emphasized on the importance of being in the “One, Holy, Apostolic and Catholic Church.” He called upon the congregation to be a privileged and blessed followers of Jesus and to be part of the Catholic Church. He said the Church is the external expression of one’s faith. It is realized by living the faith in totality. He further exhorted the faithfuls to be confident on the church to where they belong.
Bishop in his introductory speech welcomed Dn Sherman Keuk OFS from Malaysia. Meanwhile, Fr George Anthony, Parish Priest, St Xavier Church extended welcome to all gathered.
A short felicitation programme was organized by the church members to express gratitude to the benefactors. The program was chaired by Cornelius. John Bungsing proposed the vote of thanks.
