Wokha, December 6 (MExN): To commemorate the World Disability Day, the Wokha District Administration, Wokha District Legal Services Authority, department of Social Welfare and District Level Centre for Women-Mahila Shakti Kendra organized a micro empowerment camp for the person with disabilities at Town hall, Wokha on December 3.
DC Wokha, Orenthung Lotha in his inaugural address highlighted the facilities, services and rights available for the person with disabilities where he urged them to avail the opportunities of the schemes and programme introduced by the government.
Judicial Magistrate First Class and Secretary Wokha District Legal Services Authority (WDLSA) while giving the keynote address, said, the WDLSA in collaboration with District Administration, department of Social welfare and District Level Centre for Women-Mahila Shakti Kendra main objective in observing this day is to increase and create awareness and understanding for the person with disabilities in every aspect of their life and to provide certain benefits available for them.
Sr Supervisor, ICDS Erenbeni Kikon apprised the gathering about the welfare schemes for the disabled person, where State Coordinator UDID, Social welfare Akhihoto highlighted about Unique Disability Identity Card (UDID).
During the programme disability certificates were also issued, and registration of UDID was also done on the day and Legal Aid/assistance was also done.
