Kohima | October 20 : Commissioner Secretary School Education & SCERT Imkonglemba Ao IAS said mid-day meal scheme is to attract the downtrodden family that has been introduced in a very systematic and calculative manner where children should have the feeling of equal rights and food.
He was delivering keynote address during the consultative-cum one day workshop/training on Mid-Day Meal scheme at Zonal Council Hall Kohima today.
The commissioner was excited to learn Nagaland state being the best performing state (mid-day meal scheme) in the North Eastern state for the last couple of years and said children should get equal food and equal rights without inferiority.
On the food item made available in the schools, Ao said separate utensils has been arranged to make sure that food poisoning, epidemic diseases, contaminated foods do not take place and joyfully added that very soon even the uniform (neck ties) will be seen with SSA logo printed on it, also NRHM will also be visiting the schools for regular check ups.
While congratulating the newly promoted officers, Junior Education Officer (JEOs), Area Education Officer (AEOs) which was attained after a long wait, the commissioner secretary also reminded the officer participants that more responsibility has been added to deliver better and quality education to the children.
Imkonglemba said JEO will help with the centrally sponsored schemes like mid day meal, uniform or text books etc where all the schemes will be implemented by the JEO and in the meantime the AEO will be re-designated to do main inspection works.
He maintained that JEO will initiate the executive line to learn the centrally sponsored schemes and the state programmes where eventually they will also be introduced to, with the works of the government office so that by the time JEO take over as Assistant headmaster, facilities that are available will be exposed with more transparency, more systematic and it will be a joyful job assignment.
“If India is to succeed, education is very important, if earning is low, economy will go down”, Ao said, adding that its policy is to increase the literacy rate and maintains the per capita income at the same time.
Ao also said that negligence of some teachers attracts the criticisms from the public as education and health care cannot be compromised and is a priority for everyone and thereby, urged for more dedication to shape the destiny of the state.
Earlier the programme was chaired by Bendangkokba IAS, principal Director (SE) while B.Thingshem, Director (HSS) & Nodal Officer (MDM) delivered vote of thanks.
