Nagaland’s Housing & Mechanical Minister Tongpang Ozukum today inspected the market areas for second time in Kohima and called for strict adherence of social distancing protocol during shopping hour.


The shopping hour in Kohima city now stands 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM on every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
The Minister was accompanied by MLA Khriehu Liezietsu, district administration and Kohima Municipal Council. They visited market areas in BOC, Razhu Point and High School area.


Later, they team also visited KMC toll tax gate and inspected the goods vehicles being sanitized by the KMC.
Ozukum, who is also minister in-charge for Kohima district on COVID-19 expressed happiness over drastic change in maintaining social distancing protocol by the public.


“I am happy that people gradually understand the importance of social distancing. More importantly, the strict vigil on the part of Committee on Social Distancing is bearing fruit,” the minister told The Morung Express.


The minister thanked the District Administration, Police, Committee on Social Distancing, Kohima Municipal Council and all ward presidents, Angami Youth Organization, Kohima Village Youth Organization and also the volunteers in all the colonies for monitoring social distancing during the shopping hour.


“Maintaining of social distancing is improving a lot but we will continue to monitor from time to time,” Ozukum said.


Meanwhile, the minister also stated that the Angami Students’ Union has been assigned by Kohima District Task Force to assist and monitor the stranded students in Kohima and they are working hard and giving their best effort to help reach out to those who contact them. In this, he thanked ASU and also looks forward that they will continue to help the stranded students at this difficult time.


Further, Ozukum made a fervent appeal to the public to follow the directives of the government “so that we continue to protect ourselves from this dreadful disease, Coronavirus.”
