Mokokchung, December 7 (DIPR): Mokokchung District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) has approved the proposal for setting up of Rajiv Gandhi University at Mangkolemba Town. The approval of the meeting came after in-depth discussions initiated by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mangkolemba, Temsu Longkumer in the monthly meeting of the Mokokchung DPDB in the DC’s Conference Hall on December 7.
Drawing the attention of the house on the agenda, ADC Mangkolemba said that the proposal for opening the University had been put forward by a faculty comprising seven members including renowned educationist in the country Dr Imran Salim. Temsu Longkumer said the proposal for the University at Mangkolemba is a ‘desirable venture’and hoped that it would immensely help promote higher education particularly for the people of Mangkolemba sub-division. The House decided to forward the case to the government for a final decision.
The DPDB meeting also agreed in principle the transfer of My Home Kinder Garden School, Mangkolemba to Dimapur subject to verification report from the Sub-Divisional Education Officer, Mangkolemba.
Constitution of District Planning Committee headed by Deputy Commissioner for formulation of the district plans and inclusion thereof in the State’s five-year and annual plans was also discussed in consonance with the decision taken at the State Planning Board meeting held on September 20.
The house also discussed on the memorandum for constitution of Mokokchung District Voluntary Blood Donors Association. Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, Kesonyu Yhome who chaired the meeting made a sincere appealed to the members to motivate officers and staff under their respective offices about the importance of blood donation saying many lives are saved through such generous voluntary donation. He cited the crises of blood during recent bus accident near Mokokchung.
Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Mokokchung Dr Akaba said, Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital, Mokokchung is well equipped with Blood Bank but there are less blood donors. He therefore appealed to the members to take initiative to motivate officers and staff under their office in the district.
