Bhandari, April 9 (MExN): Advisor IT Science &Technology and NRE, Mmhonlumo Kikon has assured both health safety and uninterrupted supply of essential commodities to the people residing in the inter-state border areas in the wake of the COVID-19 situation.


According to a DIPR report, Kikon gave the assurance during a visit to Bhandari Sub-division, his Assembly Constituency, along with Deputy Commissioner, Wokha Orenthung Lotha and DDMA, Wokha, for a first-hand assessment preparedness of the COVID-19 situation on April 9. 


Before touring the quarantine centres,  he also had a consultative interaction with the Block Task Force, Bhandari, at the official residence of the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Bhandari, the report said. 


During the meeting, ADC Bhandari, Tiameren Chang highlighted the role of the BTF, Bhandari, in ensuring public health safety from COVID-19 and said that all possible preventive measures are being undertaken through a pro- active role played by all concerned teams. 


He also informed that village councils in the border areas and community  participation in cooperating with the  district administration is proving to be helpful in sealing of the long stretch of the porous inter- border area where security personnel are patrolling 24X7, presently, the report added. 


President, Lotha Lower Range Public Organization also expressed confidence that the competent authorities will continue to keep the general populace safe through creating preventive awareness, delivering health care services and also ensure their economic well-being during the crises.  


Kikon, meanwhile, said that the ongoing clearance work on Nagaland Foothill road under Bhandari sub division, which is sponsored by him, will help carry essential commodities to the villages in the border areas  and further assured that government is always there for the people, the DIPR report informed. 


During his tour of the Quarantine centres he also interacted with the management authorities to get a first hand update on the facilities.


Kikon also gave sanitizers and masks for the COVID-19 frontline workers and gave financial assistance to the district administration, Police and Community Health Centre (CHC) Bhandari, it added. 


The Advisor was accompanied by officials from District Disaster Management  Authority (DDMA) Wokha and a host of BTF, Bhandari members and NGO COVID-19 volunteering workers.
