Nagaland’s Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio flagged off the launching programme of Mobile Skill Morung and Multi Skilled Handyman here at Chiephobozou town under Kohima district on November 13.
Rio said that Mobile Skill Morung will be going all over the state which will help the youth and train them how to do things professionally. He prayed that the mission will be successful and “It will be productive for our state and for the country.”
Mobile Skill Morung
Mobile Skill Morung is an accelerated access to skills training and livelihood opportunities for the rural youths and women in Nagaland.
This has been introduced to ensure access to skill development especially for the rural youths and women, according to the department of employment, skill development & entrepreneurship, Nagaland.
The Mobile Skill Morung is a self contained training workshop on wheels equipped with machineries and equipments that can travel with trainers across the state to skill the rural youths and women for sustainable livelihood.
It is being funded under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme, “Skills Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion” (SANKALP).
The objectives of Mobile Skill Morung includes; bringing skill training at the doorstep of the rural youths and women, cost-savings in implementation of skilling programme) focus on tapping in the rural economy as a source of sustainable livelihood and aligning with different skilling programs to enhance the skills of the rural youths.
Multi skilled handyman
Multi skilled handyman is for development of Human Resource to meet the Rural/Local Demands: Human resource requirements in the rural areas changes from one job role to the other and the demand for one specific job is not sufficient for a person to sustain a livelihood, the departed stated adding “Therefore, an innovative approach towards skilling the youths for multiple job roles has been formulated to ensure that the person can perform multiple jobs as per demand and sustain a decent livelihood.”
Through this program, every trainee will be skilled in 3 or 4 job roles to earn their livelihood.
The District Skills Committee along with the community will be directly involved in identification of the demands and mobilization of the youths who can be skilled to take the role of multi-skilled handyman.
Through this initiative, 200 youths will be skilled as multi-skilled handyman. The first batch of 40 youths will be skilled in the job role of plumbing, tiles laying and electrician at Chiephobozou by the Training Partner-Zynorique Initiative Society.
