Dimapur, June 10 (MExN): On June 8, I. Himato Zhimomi, Principal Secretary, Health & Family Welfare Nagaland at Niuland CHC laid the foundation stone of Model Rural Health Research Unit.
The Model Rural Health Research Unit (MRHRU) is an initiative by the Indian Council of Medical Research under GOI, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. The main objective of this scheme is to create infrastructure at the periphery for transfer of technology to the rural level for improving the quality of health services to rural population, to ensure an interface between the new technology developers, health systems operators, and the beneficiaries and to ensure the much needed geographical spread of health research infrastructure in the country.
Himato stated that in the entire State one MRHRU is to be set up and Niuland is fortunate to be bestowed this opportunity. He stated that new building will be constructed for this purpose and manpower will be posted to make the MRHRU a functional unit.
The inaugural function began with the unveiling of the MRHRU plaque by Himato. I Zhimomi and prayer was delivered by Pastor Tokivi Yeptho. The programme was chaired by Dr. Obed, MO Niuland CHC. It was attended by Dr. K. Vikato Kinimi, CMO, Dr. Antoly, Dy CMO. Athrila S. ADC, Niuland, Wacy Kent, SDO Niuland, Dr. Nyan, SNO, IDSP, Dr. Kavito, DTO Dimapur, staffs under CMO Dimapur and staffs under CHC Niuland.
