Modern College hosts webinar on interdisciplinary research

Kohima, August 11 (MExN): A one-day international webinar on the theme “Interdisciplinary Research from Sociological Perspective: Prospects and Trends” was organised by the Department of Sociology, Modern College, Kohima on August 10.

The resource persons were Dr Sneha, Post-Doctoral Researcher, Department of Geography, University of Bonn, Germany, Abhinav Sharma, Doctoral Candidate, Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay and Dr Brijesh Chandra Tripathi, Assistant Professor, Jyoti Dalal School of Liberal Arts, NMIMS, Mumbai. Dr Sneha spoke on the topic “Travelling with/in Sociological Perspectives and Beyond Disciplinary Boundaries” while Abhinav Sharma deliberated on the topic “Interdisciplinary Research and Diversity of Career Choices: Promises and Challenge in Social Science”. 

A thorough exposition on the topic “Sociology: Academic/Critical Sociology, Policy based Sociology and Public Sociology – the Journey of Enmeshed Relationship between Sociology and Society” was done by Dr Brijesh Chandra Tripathi. 

The programme was moderated by Khrunuto Kezo, Asst Prof, Department of Sociology, while welcome address was delivered by Dr Vitsou Yano, Vice Principal (HE). Leviteu Koza, Kaweu Kreo and Madam Yatetsongla, from the Department were rapporteurs.

The webinar was conducted via Google Meet and was also Live Streamed on YouTube. The webinar witnessed participation of over 500 registrants comprising of scholars, faculties and students from UK, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Nigeria, Bangladesh and Pakistan besides domestic participants.
