The Mokokchung Deputy Commissioner has issued travel advisory for commuters against travelling via Assam in view prevailing law and order situation as well as protests over the Citizenship Amendment Bill.
“Commuters travelling from Mokokchung to different part of the state are hereby advised to avoid travelling via Assam till the situation improves,” stated a travel advisory issued by Mokokchung DC, Limawabang Jamir on December 11.
Meanwhile, passengers travelling via Assam to several locations to and from Mokokchung, Tuensang and Mon had to bore the brunt of the ongoing agitation over CAB as they were left stranded due to protest and blockade in several locations in Assam’s Golaghat and Jorhat districts.
It was informed that many vehicles travelling to and from Dimapur via Assam were stopped either at Silonijan or Amguri/Mariani due to the prevailing situation.
According to sources, many commuters returned to travel via Kohima or cancelled their journey.
An official of the Nagaland State Transport informed late on Wednesday night that all its services to Mokokchung, Tuensang and other districts will be routed via Kohima/Wokha till the situation improves.
NST’s service to Mon district, however, stand cancelled as of now. The diversion road is too long to reach the district, the official added.
