Mokokchung dist wins State Level Science Exhibition 2022

Kisangwala Longkumer of Bridges Academy, Mokokchung today bagged the first position of the State Level Science Exhibition 2022 under the theme ‘Science and Technology for Sustainable Development.’

She was awarded with Rs 15,000.

This event was conducted through virtual mode at the Directorate of School Education, Kohima and organized by Directorate of School Education, Nagaland in collaboration with Samagra Shiksha, Nagaland.

Tsulun Kiumusu of Akum Imlong School Tuensang stood 2nd position and awarded with Rs. 10,000.

Nyulem Konyak of Model’s School Mon got Rs.7000 for bagging the third position.

Earlier, delivering keynote address, Wonthungo Tsopoe, Director, School Education Nagaland felt that stated that such event should not be one time kind of activities but it should be continuous process to infuse the learning of science in the lower level. He also appealed the stakeholders to think for all round development of the child.

“We need to have laboratories at the lower level. We need to have science teachers at the primary or upper primary level so that the students will be motivated and encouraged about the learning of science,” he said.

The director was of the view that such kind of science exhibition will boost the credibility of the students in the field of science and technology, thereby setting a benchmark towards producing more scientists and more technocrats.

Limadangit Jamir, Deputy Director, School Education said that the aims & objectives of education is numerous and also goes on changing according to the changing condition of social life of the people in a given time.

One of the universally accepted in all age of human society is that, education is the key for human progress & development, he said adding that it gives “us definite path for any development in human life and in civilization. It also shapes our social and economic progress as well as our perspective of world.”

Citing the importance of science exhibition, Jamir said, “Today, science and technological education has emerged as one of the most important subjects of studies in all the level of education especially for school going children.”

It helps to create new knowledge and utilization of the knowledge, boost the prosperity of human lives and solve the various issues facing the society today, he said.

“Scientific knowledge allows us to develop new technologies, solve practical problems and make informed decision- both individually and socially. New scientific knowledge may lead to new applications to solve new problems,” he said.

The panel of judges for this state level science exhibition included: Emilo Patton, Deputy Director, School Education, Dr Rokovikho Dominic, Assistant Professor, Kohima Science College, Jotsoma and Tiawapang Kichu, Post Graduate Teacher, Rüzhükhrie GHSS Kohima. Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Chumbeni Kikon, Joint Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha, Nagaland.
