Mokokchung: MMC sanitation workers honoured

Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) held the culmination programme of Swachhta Pakhwada under the theme Swachhta Hi Sewa at MMC conference hall on October 2 where the MMC sanitation workers were also felicitated.

Dr Sentitula, IFS, DFO Mokokchung, in her felicitation speech said that every person's purpose in being on earth is to give service to society. She added that no service is too big or too small when it is done wholeheartedly. She quoted, 'Service to men is service to God' and lauded the sanitation workers, saying that their work is a service to God and that it is appreciated.

37 sanitation workers were felicitated and provided with sanitation necessities like PPE kits, helmets, boots, brooms, rice, and other gifts.

Along with MMC, Bedi Bachhao Bedi Padhao, Dr Sentitula, IFS DFO Mokokchung and Department of Civil Supplies Mokokchung contributed towards the felicitation of the sanitation workers

People across the country observed an awareness campaign on cleanliness by undertaking a fortnightly awareness drive called Swachhta Pakhwada. Along with the country, Mokokchung Municipal Council also organised different programmes during the 15 days Cleanliness awareness campaign.

Swachhta Pakhwada was initiated under the leadership of Chumlamo Humtsoe, Administrator MMC and ADC; Mokokchung, Captain of ISL.2.0, Sakumongba, Field Assistant as the Brand ambassador and Kilepchiba, Sanitation Inspector as the Nodal officer.

Swachhta Pakhwada began with the registration of the town in the portal on September 6. On September 15 launching of Swachh Pakhwada and Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivir was held, while from September 18-25 Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivir was held, where All Ward Union, ward sanitation committees, youths, and Team Clean Mokokchung participated. On September 27, a medical camp was held in collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer at the MMC for sanitation workers and on September 29 and 30, a dog vaccination and registration drive and a 1-hour shram dhaan for Swachhta Nagaland were held, respectively.
