Mokokchung observes World AIDS Day 2019

Mokokchung, December 1 (MExN): World AIDS Day 2019, under the theme ‘Communities make the difference’ was held at MTBA conference hall organized jointly by District AIDS Prevention Control Unit (DAPCU), Care and Counseling Center, Care and Support Society, Guardian Angel, Grace Society  and NMP+ in collaboration with Alcoholic Ananymous.


The programme commenced with the Rev Ponen, Pastor MTBA, pronouncing the invocation prayer. The significance of the day was shared by Dr Imyangluba, M.O, DTO in which he highlighted the beginning of World AIDS Day and its purpose of spreading awareness among the masses about HIV and AIDS.


The theme speaker for the day, Dr Amenla, MO, ART IMDH, focused on the challenges of fighting HIV/AIDS and the roles every individual and society must play for its awareness and to support the fight against HIV/AIDS. She further elaborated on the difference between HIV and AIDS, and also highlighted the ART treatment provided by the government, free of cost, for people living with HIV (PLHIV).


Meanwhile, another programme was also held by the Mokokchung legal services group and SAKI One Stop, where nutrition was distributed to PLHIV and rights and awareness on HIV/AIDs was highlighted.
